Rereading, I think I formulated badly. I found these photos unconvincing, could easily be faked (no, I do not contend they are). My point is that there was a years, nay decade+, long history of abuse, which is very much more convincing than a photograph of a receding haemorrhage around the eye. Maybe Mr Kelly is an ‘idiot’ after all? I mean, a long history of abuse would mean nothing, but a moot photograph would?

I found that photo somehow unconvincing. It must have been taken quite a while (like 2-3 weeks) after the facts, the discoloration is already yellowish and there is no swelling.
Somewhat off topic: I’m always struck how badly films depict a ‘black eye’, clearly just some make-up. A black eye is swollen, these peri-orbital tissues are very loose and swell very easily, invariably. The only exceptions would be ‘raccoon hematomas’, sometimes with little peri-orbital swelling, indicating a serious facial fracture (the different ‘Lefort fractures’), but not involving direct orbital trauma.

There is also Mr Sorensen now who had to resign after accusations of wife battering. Apparently he did not need a security clearance for his Job though.
Note, he contends that he was the battered one. That is moot question. From what I’ve seen (in my job involving repair of physical damage), it is indeed often -well, regularly, I would not say a majority of cases- the woman initiating the violence, at least here in SA. However, until she attacks her man while he’s asleep, she generally comes second best, because of obvious reasons.
