Concerning that tweet by Scott Dworkin smearing Vice President Pence, you may want to post a correction and apology, since even the left-leaning PolitiFact rates it “Pants on Fire”.

One can’t believe everything that’s tweeted, it seems.

In reply to nicky. I agree with all your likes and dislikes. I would add Betsy de Vos to the dislike list. I agree about Condaleeza Rice too and I also liked Colin Powell, and GWB is basically a good person. During his presidency I saw people like Dick Cheney and especially Donald Rumsfield as the worst ones.

I do not like Ms Coulter, I do not like Ms Sarsour, I do not like Ms Beirich (SPLC), I do not like Mr Trump, I do not like Mr Bannon, I do not like Mr Pence and I definitely do not like Mr Pruitt, but in my pantheon of despicability , Mr McConnel comes tops. Pure evil.
[Lest I sound negative, there is lots of people I like, even if I do not agree with them. I mean, it is easy to like Mr Harris, Mr Dennet, Mr Coyne, Ms Hirshi Ali or Mr Randi, because we broadly agree with them, but we can also like , say, Ms Rice. We may not agree, but she definitely has integrity. Man, with the present crop of despicables even Mr Bush nearly appears not that bad, after all]

In reply to Jenny Haniver. There was a story about Joel Olsteen and the flood on Fox by their always biased Lauren Greene. It accepted completely Osteen's story that he couldn't open his church because of flooding. So everyone who watches only Fox believes his side of the story.

All those socalled Christians who blame the LBGT community for disasters always forget to ask: What would Jesus do? They conveniently forget many of his messages. Mega churches are are just another tax shelter. Time for the tax code to change so they pay their full share to society.

You left out the second sentence. Here’s the entire tweet ‘I don’t believe Hurricane Harvey is God’s punishment for Houston electing a lesbian mayor. But that is more credible than “climate change.”‘

Coulter knows damned well what she’s saying and that it’s a duplicitous (see my comment below) use of denial as a way to bring this subject into the discussion to influence people,, while personally rising above belief in it — I know there must be a term for this kind of fallacious argument but I can’t think of it offhand. But you will believe what you will.

You are, of course, absolutely correct. She doesn’t believe that for a minute, but she’s a thoroughgoing opportunist. Her comment was flip and patently disingenuous, but her continual crass exploitation of true believers in this way is important to note, as you did. I’m sure the true believers will be fervently fulminating soon; but I tend to think that some of those ministers who blame gays and transsexuals for catastrophes really don’t believe it themselves, but they know it’ll play to their base. And speaking of hypocrites, I’m delighted by the drubbing that whitened sepulchre, Joel Osteen has been getting for his cavalier attitude toward the people devastated by Harvey.

Of course, what Coulter actually tweeted was exactly the opposite: “I don’t believe Hurricane Harvey is God’s punishment for Houston electing a lesbian mayor.”

She dissed climate change, not gays — but apparently that’s now the greater sin.
