Thanks mate. I’m not really that bad. It’s more that the pain I’m in all the time gets badly exacerbated when I have illnesses that have symptoms like making your joints ache plus a week-long fever. At the same time I had to travel to another city for a couple of days to attend medical and other appointments. It was all a bit beyond my very limited physical capacity. I’m mostly back to normal now, though normal for me is pretty crap for most people.

That phrase “abortion industry” always grates with me. The religion industry makes multiple times more money and destroys a lot more lives. Some will argue that religion saves some people. That’s true, but so does abortion, despite what the extremists think. Before you even get properly into the arguments for and against, there’s the women for whom pregnancy is a death sentence. There are a lot of other lives saved by abortion too, but this isn’t the right place to get into them.

It sounds like the far right AfD is getting a fair bit of traction there. It will be interesting to see the results there.

Germany has one of the better electoral systems in the world imo.

One reason I think the dogs will always win the dogs vs. cats debate is exemplified with the likes of Frida.

I liked the cartoon about “We are destroying the earth”. But the briefcase shouldn’t say ‘government’ it should say the GOP…as you pointed out, it is only they who deny and obfuscate climate change. The ‘government’ isn’t the problem; a greedy and evil political party is.

And why do christians say things like ‘abortion industry’ (other than the easy answer that they are deluded)? What are they reading or watching that gives them that idea? So many Americans are so very stupid, especially the religious variety.

Germany will certainly have to start dealing with the problem of Islamic extremism more effectively than it has done so far. It empowers the Neo-Nazis who are in fact a far more imminent danger to society, and are already targeting Jews and social justice types in the outer suburbs of Berlin. And Russia is of course now a real existential threat to European peace.

For now, I would be happy to see Merkel get in again, but I hope Germany starts seriously opposing extremists in society, and building up its military and encouraging the rest of the EU to do the same.
