Yes, good point! You're right of course. The sentence started as a snarky comment about the US believing they're the world's greatest democracy, and when I decided that wasn't appropriate I screwed up.

I know my brother-in-law uses an udder ointment that he praises greatly, but I don't know what it's called. I know it's made in NZ though and contains lanolin, and he gets pissed off with one of his team because he puts it on at the wrong time no matter how many times he explains.

There is a product, an udder ointment, manufactured in Vermont, called Bag Balm. It's really great stuff, too.

Yeah, 'The Exorcist' scared me too while in the tendrils of religion. I haven't actually seen it since being an atheist...that's 20 some years!

I have heaps of farmers of all types in the family. One if my sisters and her husband are dairy farmers. And I've never heard an udder called a bag! So it must be a USian thing? Either way, it's interesting to know why some people there say grocery sack. :-)

My instant reaction to "bag" is "udder", probably not, in this day and age, most people's. I remember reading an H. Allen Smith essay that country people refer to grocery bags as "sacks", to distinguish from "udder".

Aahhh, my life in the dairy.

Ha ha!

That reminds me of a study I was a part of at the age of about 7. We were asked to come up different types of a thing that was named. One of the things was "bag". One boy in the group I was in said "old bag" and so was questioned further, "What type of old bag?" His answer: "Grouchy old bag!"

I also remember being fascinated by one of the women questioning us who laughed so hard her whole body wobbled. I'd never seen anything like it before.

I'm not sure about the woman on the right, but I wonder if she's an Omen reference too? I like a good horror movie, though I haven't seen many. These are two of my favourites though.

I was really scared by 'The Exorcist' when I first saw it. Though when I was a Christian I was always naturally a bit of a deist, and my family weren't ott on religion, I was still really scared of the possibility of possession. That movie really freaked me out and gave me nightmares. I watched it again a few years ago after becoming an atheist. I was a bit worried it might still scare me, but it didn't.
