In point of fact, in just a few short days the new president has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to pushing forward on behalf of all Americans. He’s getting the economy out of low gear (and out from under the politicians), restoring the Constitution to its rightful place in the courts, putting terrorists and tyrants on notice, and getting the border in order. As just one example, whereas Obama engaged in years and years and years of dithering, preening, and hand-wringing over the Keystone Pipeline — only to end up killing it — Trump simply reached for his pen and got ‘er done. After eight lost years, America’s back in business in a yuge way!

Yes, nuclear weapons have been a grave danger — and a sad fact of life — for a long time. But as pointed out above, no year after 1991 was or will be as dangerous as any year before that date in the nuclear era. As an indication of the wisdom of these so-called experts at the Bulletin, it’s worth noting that in last year’s statement they hailed Obama’s Iran debacle as a “major diplomatic achievement”.

How about addressing the concerns of the experts instead of the way they’re expressing those concerns.

This is classic Trump-style bait and switch.

The way the United States is being governed at the moment is extremely problematic. Trump is a shallow thinker, he has a short attention span, he is alienating his allies, he is pissing off his enemies, and he cares more about ratings than getting the job done.

He’s taken the chairman of the Joint Chiefs off the NSC in favour of Steve Bannon ffs!

The thing is, they’ve been wrong every year for seventy years, and that’s not a confidence-inspiring record.

Or think of it this way: Seventy years ago, you asked someone for the time, and they replied, “Seven minutes to midnight.” But midnight never came in all the years since, for, paradoxically, midnight is just minutes or seconds away — forever. And this pattern could extend indefinitely for years to come.

It’s just not clear how this tactic is supposed to arouse a sense of urgency. (Seems the opposite.)
