Well, I think it is obvious what those 'family values' are: the Woman in the kitchen and looking after the brood, the Man earning the bread and philandering on the way. Easy peasy.

Yes, clearly not bats -there is no actual wing- , but colugos indeed.
Colugos are closely related to primates, so 'flying lemur' is not that bad a description (although they are not lemurs and rather glide than fly indeed).

Active flight is kinda rare, only originated 4 times, (insects, pterosaurs, birds and bats), while gliding is much more common, originated at least 6 times in mammals alone:
- 3 times in marsupials (phalangers, feather-tailed possums and the greater glider)
- 2 times in rodents (flying squirrels and scaly tailed flying squirrels)
- Colugos (that is six)
Lemurs like the Sifaka , with long hairs and a small skin fold could be argued to be gliders, but I'd rather think of them as incipient gliders, since compared to the others they are not really good at it.

Yes, "they".

We're talking about people who take both sides of an argument.

Sorry a pronoun is confusing you.

Is there some reason why you hide behind your initials?

It's not hypocrisy.

It's only hypocrisy if you believe that they mean what they say.

It IS dishonesty, though. What's going on is that they believe that the end justifies the means. They want to win, so they take whatever side of an argument suits them at the moment. They have no principles, in what is commonly meant by that word. They value greed and the lust for power, and whatever they can do in the service of acquiring more of that is fine with them.

I have been saying for years that, deep down in their heart of hearts, they don't really want to live in a democracy. They are authoritarians, and are perfectly willing to use whatever tactic is handy.

That's what makes this the most galling for me - the hypocrisy. Republicans complain that they get criticized more over sexual misconduct, but the reason for that is the person engaging in it has invariably run on a "family values" platform (whatever that is!).
