Reagan and Thatcher were both the ‘beginning of the end’ in my opinion. Their hardline, economic rationalist policies pushed those at the bottom of the spectrum into a very precarious existence. We are seeing the results of their economic ‘reforms’ to this day in the English speaking countries of the developed world.

I’m sure that if Obama could have his head, a very different America would come into existence. This hardly seems achievable because measures put in place during the Reagan years have become difficult to dismantle.

Not surprising that Reagan is ‘lionised’ by the Republicans, but why everyday, working US citizens would do this is beyond my ken.

Thanks Todd. I was quite shocked how lionized Reagan was when I started watching more US politics on TV. My overwhelming memory was Iran-contra, and the economic success had more to do with Silicon Valley than his policies imo.
