A sheep raiser! Must be a good man! Thanks for your comments - they've made me think of more things I could've included in the post. Maybe next time ...

Interesting analysis from outside the US which I am always fascinated to hear. I'm a Yank. A Kiwi lived right down the street once and I raised sheep as a kid and that's as close as I have come to New Zealand. Ive watched the over the top criticism, downright hatred for Obama from the white conservative Republicans here "up North" (I live near Chicago) but especially "down South", Kentucky in particular where I worked. Every step he takes is utterly wrong. What is so odd is that as a Democratic President and slightly left of center politician he has been the most militaristic, unflinchingly engaged, "right" acting leader...maybe ever. He gave the generals their way with troop increases in Afghanistan, he was aggressive with the Somali pirates, letting the military do what they are trained to do, similarly aggressive in getting bin Laden, took out Gaddhafi without boots on the ground, kept Gitmo to the absolute horror of his left constituency and has killed more Muslim's thru personally approved drone strikes than in Bush's wildest dreams. If he was a white Republican they'd have made him a saint already of higher status that Ronnie Reagan...and they seethingly hate the man. It is palpable. Im no politically savvy person, but it sure seems my fellow Americans who despise his every breathe, just havent gotten used to the fact that there is a black man in the White House. Whether you approve of his actions or not, one must admit this guy has dealt with more crises in his 2 terms, economically (our meltdown, the bailouts and world wide meltdown), socially (don't ask don't tell, support for gay marriage) militarily,(see above, and Iraq), politically (the Tea Party deadlock, birthers, impeachers) internationally (Putin's muscle flexing), and now Syria and IS. He hasnt run away from any decisions, right or wrong, the guy has earned his pay. Really enjoy your insight on his IS actions.
